Trajectory
02:45
|
|||
Yesterday afternoon I dug some holes out in the yard and looking to the south observed a cloud of smoke and ash in my trajectory. My wife was sent out on a rescue mission chasing dogs and cats out by the county line. The wind today kept smoke from her trajectory.

Drought

Though time will destroy you in front of somebody else, I rest on my temples and whisper aloud to streaks and reflections that move in reverse. I’m thinking up sounds and I’m letting them out. Now all the trees I planted in the summer have dried up and died. Not more than five inches of rain this year has fallen from the sky. In moments I will loosen up these rigid limbs having untied and taken oxygen like other men believing that I tried.

Proliferation
02:18
|

I want to walk up to the mike. I want to tell you all about my life. Wish I wasn’t afraid to go outside. I want to sing out loud and get it right. Instead I will proliferate. Because the only move I’ve got is proliferation.

Not Even Wrong
02:39
|

You draw your own beliefs out of thin air. You say your eyes can see what isn’t there. Could be your own invention, you’re unaware. You’re not even wrong. It doesn’t qualify. You’re not even wrong. Omission of citation. An absent quotation. I take advantage of my literacy. You see me, I put it down at night most definitely. Oh me, quickly the third degree. You think you’re right. Wrong.

Searing

Sear the plains from planes of man. No man on plane, no man on land. The path of hand the plane to land. That seared the plains from planes of man.

Pickup Truck

I did everything I could do. Glance at the city in my rearview. We made some magic in that room this evening. Feels like sometimes that I am always leaving. I’m going home. The volume button set on 82, no less. Indigo river valley’s on my right and hills on left. I’ve got a ringing in my ears. Could see myself do this for years. I’m going home. Each Monday late at night I drive my truck across five counties. Alone I smoke and sing and feel a sense of victory. I look back on some conversation points I wish I would have made and focus on my dream.

Orphans
04:01
|

I was an orphan, I was an old man, then I became a backup singer for a sinister band. I had a hundred thousand dollars that I stole from the backseat of a car in Colorado rolled inside of cigars. Then I traveled to Sonora and I went on a tour of this resort. I feel asleep by the pool. When I woke up I met these actors that I’d seen as a kid who provided me with answers to the questions I had. Before I met this girl she called on the phone and she talked about biology and living alone. How she ran away from someone who intended to harm all her children up in elevation far from the farm.

Earthshine
04:05
|
|||
Early is the hour of my waking in this heat. Wander out along the road and stand in my bare feet. Dragging this hose across the ground in the earthshine. Paying for the water that’s repurposing my time. Countdown from 600 starts now. I value every midnight show the most and will until I die. The blues and grays of winter moonlight keep me cold. I wake up often in between her and the dogs. I’m extra sensitive to light and sound and mood. When nights are longer I stay out and get more moon.
